Bureau, says that the Commission is &#8220;aware that [the] cultural, political, legal and societal context is heralding an evolution&#8221;, a development which should result in a &#8220;possible enlargement of the current provisions of the Act.&#8221; This position shows a lack of listening to many stakeholders and advocacy groups for vulnerable people.<br \/><br \/><strong>Some facts in brief:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">1,331 euthanasia provided between April 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019, out of 1937 requests.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">32% increase in the number of euthanasia compared to the previous year and 113% compared to 2016-2017.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">1.9% of total deaths in Quebec.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">13 cases of non-compliance with the criteria, including 3 where the patient was not suffering from a serious and incurable illness (hip fracture in all 3 cases). <\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">86 cases where the lack of information did not allow the Commission to conclude on the conformity of euthanasia administered.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">83% of physicians who participated in euthanasia were general practitioners and 17% specialists.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">The majority of euthanasia was provided in hospitals (66%), while 20% were administered at home, 9% in CHSLDs and 3% in palliative care homes.<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\">1243 people received continuous palliative sedation during this period.<br \/><br \/><em>4th Annual Report of the Commission on End-of-Life Care, October 2019.<\/em><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 2, 2019 &#8211; Health Minister Danielle McCann tabled in the National Assembly the Commission on end-of-life care&#8217;s 4th annual report. <br \/>\nThe report again deals only with medical assistance &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":31,"featured_media":12472,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[842],"tags":[913,916,917,919],"class_list":["post-12471","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-new-quebec-en","tag-danielle-mccann","tag-euthanasia","tag-medical-assistance-in-dying","tag-report"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12471","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/31"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=12471"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12471\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":12479,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12471\/revisions\/12479"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12472"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12471"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=12471"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/vivredignite.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=12471"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
