\nWe took advantage of the September 29 segment of Quebec\u2019s popular TV show Tout le monde en parle <\/b>on the La mort libre (Free death) <\/b>podcasts to\npublish our analysis of the Radio-Canada documentary series marking 10 years of medical assistance in dying<\/span>.\nThe article can be found below.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

I would have liked\nTLMEP to talk about the Charter of Rights and Freedoms challenge to Track 2\nMAID, announced last Thursday by a coalition of disability organizations. Apart\nfrom a mention in the Canadian Press, the news passed under the radar in\nQuebec, even though its scope is significant, as we shall see in this\nnewsletter.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

We’d also like to\noffer you a few suggestions of content to discover from various sources concerned\nwith aid in living.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

We strongly\nrecommend that you listen to the four episodes (almost 45 min. each) of the\nRadio-Canada podcastsLa mort libre \/ Free death. <\/i>If you run out of time,\nconcentrate on part four, which tackles the issue of the slippery slopes\nassociated with MAiD. Four angles of MAiD are explored: its growing popularity,\nits expansion into new categories, the aspect of the new trend (better way to\ndie) and the economic question.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

This\npodcast series does not call into question access to medical aid in dying, but\njournalist Alain Gravel’s ambivalence about the issue makes for a high-quality\njournalistic portrait.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

5 years after Canada\u2019s Government refused to appeal the Truchon decision\n(<\/span>despite a letter from 72 groups<\/span><\/a>), we\ncommend Inclusion Canada, the Council of Canadians with Disabilities\n(CCD), Indigenous Disability Canada (IDC\/BCANDS), and DAWN Canada for launching\na charter challenge against Track 2 Medical assistance in dying in our country.

Hats off to the Comit\u00e9 d’action des personnes\nvivant des situations de handicap, <\/span>CAPVISH<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/a><\/span>, which state “its strongest opposition to\nthe Quebec government’s recent decision to authorise advance requests for\nmedical aid in dying\u201d.
