2017 comes to an end with a final month representative of the ideological slurry that sprouts in our society: normalizing euthanasia. Indeed, CBC (once again) aired propaganda programs<\/a>\u00a0supporting of assisted suicide, and\u00a0two complacent articles<\/a>\u00a0suggesting that we should (already!) consider expanding the assisted suicide law, basically for people \u201ctired of living\u201d.<\/p>\n In this regard, I strongly encourage you to\u00a0sign the petition<\/a>\u00a0launched by our friends at the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition<\/i> (EPC<\/a>) to tell the CBC to\u00a0stop producing one-sided propaganda programs on assisted death.<\/p>\n Otherwise,\u00a0a study was published<\/a>\u00a0in the magazine\u00a0Le Sp\u00e9cialiste<\/i>, the official magazine of the\u00a0F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des m\u00e9decins sp\u00e9cialistes du Qu\u00e9bec (FMSQ)<\/i>, to present the results of a survey of 61 Laval doctors who received a request for \u201cmedical aid in dying\u201d (euthanasia). According to the results of the study, 77% of them refused to participate actively in the euthanasia process by exercising their right to conscientious objection.<\/p>\n However, the CISSS Laval research\u00a0suggests<\/a>\u00a0that only 14% of physicians would have had\u00a0real<\/i>\u00a0conscientious objections (morals). As a result, the other doctors who refused to intentionally cause the death of their patients would not have had, so to speak, a valid reason<\/i>. Yet 59% of the physicians surveyed said that the reason for their refusal came from the emotional burden that would be too heavy to bear\u2026 Such a reason seems very close to a moral conscientious objection, as the Physicians\u2019 Alliance against Euthanasia<\/i> explained very well in their excellent\u00a0press release<\/a>\u00a0on the study in question.<\/p>\n As a new year approaches, you can rest assured that Living with Dignity will continue to make heard the voices of those who want to build a caring society, rather than facilitating death for those who need help.
