Third day of consultations on Bill 52

Three groups presented their memoirs on this third day of consultations on Bill 52. We have received a promise of a free, non-partisan vote from the Liberal party. We have heard that the demand for "medical aid in dying" will be weak. We have also heard that the rules for the anticipated procedures are too strict. And once again, the lack of clarity within the bill has been emphasized.

First day of consultations on Bill 52

The first day of consultations on Bill 52 was held in the red room in the Quebec Parliament building on September 17th 2013. The groups who expressed their opinions that day were groups of doctors and pharmacists. Many subjects were discussed but two in particular are worth examining at a deeper level : the problem of definitions and the question of aptitude.

Brief deposed in parliamentary commission and press briefing

Living with Dignity deposed a brief to the Commission of Health and Social Services pertaining to Bill 52. The brief is available here:  Download the brief.

Living with Dignity will present its brief before the parliamentary commission on Wednesday September 25th 2013 at noon.

At 1:15, the spokespeople for Living with Dignity will be available to answer any questions in the Press Tribunal located in the Jacques L'archevêque room in the Quebec Parliament building.

Second day of public consultations on Bill 52

During the second day of consultations on Bill 52, we only heard from two groups. Both groups are for the proposed bill. Suggestions of note, that the revocation of requests for medical aid in dying be written by hand, that the bill be broadened to include inapt people, even minors and that the doctor who objects must find another to perform the task.
