The Supreme Court of Canada gave the federal government one year to write an effective law on physician-assisted suicide. This is not enough.

Among others things, we request  the federal government to invoke the notwithstanding clause and to establish a Royal Commission to study how best to respond to the decision of the Supreme Court of Canada in the Carter case.

The Carter decision authorizes only  assisted suicide

The judgment of the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) in Carter is not very clear as to whether it intended to  decriminalize only a physician’s assistanceg to a person to commit suicide or whether it also intended to decriminalize euthanasia performed by a physician. Suicide prevention for the elderly vs legalized euthanasia

Suicide prevention week in Quebec is happening from the 1st to the 7th of February 2015. This is an important activity considering the high number of people affected, directly or not, by suicide. An article in the Journal de Montréal this week mentions the high suicide rate for the elderly in Quebec.
